StarBound is a student-led aerospace research team based in Volos, Greece. Its focus is on innovation and research in space technology.

Our Mission

We are committed to advancing aerospace technology and fostering public interest in the space sector. We envision the creation of a state-of-the-art and innovative educational center that bridges theory and hands-on experience. Our team consists of members from multiple departments, all collaborating to create and promote impactful interdisciplinary projects. By combining diverse academic backgrounds and skill sets, we are able to approach challenges from multiple perspectives and develop well-rounded, effective solutions. Our Journey

April 2024

Team Formation

StarBound was founded by a group of Electrical & Computer Engineering students in Volos, with a passion for space exploration. It operates under the auspices of the University of Thessaly (UTH) and the IEEE SB of UTH.

November 2024

First Major Project

In our first major project, we aim to develop a space unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), with which we intend to compete in the UAS Challenge 2025-2026 competition.

April 2025

Forming Our First Interdisciplinary UAV Team

Our first official UAV team has been assembled, bringing together a diverse group of students and professors from multiple disciplines (ECE, Mechanical Engineering, Economics, etc.) to design and build a space-capable UAV.
