StarBound is a student-led aerospace research team based in Volos, Greece. Its focus is on innovation and research in space technology.
Conducting pioneering research in propulsion systems, materials science, and aerospace engineering.
Organizing educational events, for team members and open workshops to spread knowledge on technical and soft skills.
Partnering with academic institutions, industry pioneers, and space agencies to expand our reach and impact.
Aiming to develop reusable, sustainable technologies for space exploration and missions.
StarBound was founded by a group of Electrical & Computer Engineering students in Volos, with a passion for space exploration. It operates under the auspices of the University of Thessaly (UTH) and the IEEE SB of UTH.
In our first major project, we aim to develop a space unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), with which we intend to compete in the UAS Challenge 2025-2026 competition.
Our first official UAV team has been assembled, bringing together a diverse group of students and professors from multiple disciplines (ECE, Mechanical Engineering, Economics, etc.) to design and build a space-capable UAV.
